My first 8 hours for a commercial client are charged at $150/hour. After that, the rates may vary depending on the type of work to be done and duration of time. Non-profits can get a discount. If business is slow, you can ask for a discount. See below for examples:
PRINCIPAL CONSULTANT
Master's degree in Public Health in the Environmental and Occupational Safety and Health, concentration in industrial hygiene,
Certified Industrial Hygienist, and Certified Safety Professional
$150/hour for the first 8 hours and for higher-level EHS work such as meetings with senior management, complaint investigations, mold, unknown problems, writing IH sampling plans, reviewing safety and health documents, design reviews, policy writing or reviews, operational reviews, oversight of projects such as lead abatement, hazardous waste operations, evaluations of hazards, new products, and controls.
For technical work typically done by a technologist or technician with a bachelor or associate degree such as calibrating and using sampling equipment for routine operations to determine or verify employee exposures, basic hazard assessments and controls, report writing, training course finishing, etc., the hourly rate is $90 after or in concurrence with the initial $150/hour for 8 hours depending on the project. They typically work under the supervision of a CIH with lots of experience and/or a master's degree.
Extra insurance may be required for some jobs such as mold, abatement, and hazardous waste which may be added to the cost of the project.
Long-term assignments of 30 days or more for the principal consultant's time are eligible for reduced rates after the initial 30 days.
Non-profit organizations are also eligible for reduced principal consultant's time rates. Call to discuss options.
Litigation work: Hourly rates are $150 and up. Contact me to discuss your needs. I can research, advise, prepare, and perform expert witness work.
Air and noise monitoring equipment is rented from reputable companies. Analyses are performed by AIHA- or similarly accredited laboratories.
